Semagic help needed
So I'm trying to configure Semagic to cross-post here and on LJ, but when I went to their Server Settings page, it didn't have insanejournal listed as an option. I typed it in manually, and it seemed to log in but gave me an error message about "malformed login response," and when I tried to post it complained about "invalid user name." Has anyone else had this problem?

Okay, so...log out of semagic. Then go back to the login box.

1. type "marinarusalka insane" (without quotation marks)
2. type your password
3 Do NOT click on login.
4. click on server settings
5. type in "http://www.insanejournal.com" for the server
6. Go to your name...it's listed as "marinarusalka insane"
7. get rid of "insane" (since clearly you don't have an account with that name on insanejournal
8 say okay!

Or something like that. The big problem is that we know we're supposed to create a username that semagic can distinguish from the other services' user names (all of which are marinarusalka), but of course, nothing but your real user name will log you into the journaling sites.

Does that make any sense or did I muddy up the waters even more?

	Yeah, that's what I did. And it acts as if I'm logged in -- I get the Semagic posting window with my default IJ icon displayed. But it still pops up that "malformed login response" error, and claims my user name is invalid when I try to actually post. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	p.s. just about everyone I talked to posting to IJ with Semagic is getting that error message. Basically, it just means you can't use tags from Semagic. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	p.s. about the username...that's weird. if you have have yourname IJ on the first window and in server settings just use your name minus the IJ it should be working... (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	It seems that when I change my username on the server settings page, it accepts it just long enough to log me in, but then goes back to thinking I'm "marinarusalkaij" rather than just "marinarusalka." Every time I log out and try to log back in, I have to change it again. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	could it be doing that because you have marinarusalkaij as one word instead of two? I'm grasping at straws here...it sounds like you've done everything it said to do. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	i get the same error message for IJ. I read somewhere that the script is messed up on IJ's end? (Reply to this)
